What is the process?

Consultation

Before the procedure, the dentist will evaluate the condition of your teeth and gums to determine if they are suitable for whitening.

Whitening may not be suitable immediately if there are conditions such as decay or poor gum health.

1

Cleaning

For optimal contact between the whitening gel and tooth structure, the dentist will first perform light scaling and polishing to remove plaque from the surface of your teeth.

2

Whitening

The dentist will first protect your lips and gums before applying hydrogen peroxide gel on your teeth.
A laser light is placed over your teeth to accelerate the chemical reaction of the whitening gel leading to better results. This process is repeated 2-3 times over 40-60 minutes.

3

Protection

The whitening gel contains hydrogen peroxide, which may cause sensitivity during the whitening treatment. To provide further protection, the dentist will apply a desensitising gel to your teeth after the whitening process.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How many sessions will be needed to achieve whiter teeth?

A single session of clinic whitening can result in visibly brighter teeth by 3-5 shades.

How long will the whitening effect last?

A reasonable estimated timeframe would be around 18 months. However, it’s important to note that this can vary from person to person based on individual lifestyle habits and oral hygiene practices.

What are the advantages of choosing Q White over non-dentist whitening establishments?

In Singapore, only licensed dentists can prescribe whitening gels exceeding 0.1% concentration, as regulated by the Health Sciences Authority. To ensure both safety and efficacy, our Q WHITE whitening treatment utilizes whitening gel ranging from 10% to 35% in concentration and are compliant with these regulations.

Only qualified dentists registered with the Singapore Dental Council are working in our clinics. They only prescribe Q WHITE whitening treatment after a comprehensive examination and diagnosis.

Unlike some home or non-dentist treatments, our dentist-supervised approach ensures proper application and monitoring for best results.

Why is Q White teeth whitening a better choice than over-the-counter whitening solutions?

We can prescribe whitening gels exceeding 0.1% in concentration, leading to faster and more noticeable whitening compared to over-the-counter options. Our personalised whitening trays for take home whitening kit ensure a snug fit and even application of the gel, maximising effectiveness and minimising discomfort. Personalised trays also reduce gel waste and contact with gums, potentially reducing side effects.

Will I encounter tooth sensitivity following the procedure?

Some experience temporary sensitivity after whitening, regardless of whitening options (chairside or home). This is usually mild and shouldn’t significantly impact your daily routine. Consider using a sensitive toothpaste, like Colgate Pro-Relief, for a week before your treatment to minimise the risk of sensitivity afterwards.

What are some food I should avoid consuming in order to make my results last longer?

While avoiding certain foods and drinks entirely isn’t necessary, consider limiting heavily coloured food like red wine, coffee, and turmeric. Also, avoid tobacco to minimise staining. Brushing and flossing regularly removes surface stains and promotes overall oral health, contributing to brighter teeth.

In which situations would whitening not be suitable for me?

While whitening can enhance your smile, it may not be suitable for everyone. Some important considerations include significant tooth decay or extensive restorations on front teeth. Discolouration caused by severe fluorosis or childhood antibiotic use require a dentist’s assessment for individualised treatment options.

Will the procedure cause damage to my teeth and gums?

We prioritise preventing contact between the whitening gel and your gums during the treatment process. However, it’s important to understand that if the whitening gel comes into contact with your gums, it may cause them to turn white which will be resolve in a few days. There is no long term damage to your teeth and gums.

How frequently should I undergo teeth whitening?

While teeth whitening is a safe way to brighten your smile, we recommend to speak to our dentists for a suitable whitening schedule.

What are the differences between home whitening and chairside whitening?

Chairside whitening uses a higher concentration whitening gel that can deliver noticeable results in a single visit. This treatment requires professional supervision and specific techniques of a dentist to ensure safety and comfort.

Home whitening kits typically use lower concentration gels and require daily use for a period of time, usually one to two weeks.

Does Q White offer home whitening kits?

Yes, we offer home whitening kits at $288 for 1 pax. It includes personalised trays and whitening gels for two weeks.

Our home whitening kits are $488 for 2 pax.
