 What is Invisalign?

Invisalign takes a different approach altogether. Instead of metal brackets and wires, you wear a series of clear, custom-made aligners that sit over your teeth and move them into position gradually over time. The process works around your daily life rather than interrupting it.

Clear Aligners

With Invisalign, the aligners are clear enough that colleagues, friends, and people you've just met won't notice them.  Othe days that really matter (a job interview, a wedding, an important first impression) you can be confident and not walk in feeling like your teeth are a work in progress.

Personalized by Dentist

A detailed digital scan of your mouth is used to map out every planned tooth movement from start to finish using specialised software. From that plan, a full series of custom aligners is created, with each one slightly different from the last, moving your teeth gradually and consistently in the right direction .

Also, being able to see your projected outcome before you start means you have a clear understanding of what the treatment involves and what to realistically expect by the end.

Removable for Eating

One of the more practical advantages of Invisalign is that you can remove the aligners when you need to.
At mealtimes, you simply remove them and eat as you normally would. There are no food restrictions and no eating around brackets or wires. Cleaning is just as straightforward. You brush and floss the same way you always have, without having to work around any fixed hardware. This tends to make Invisalign a much more manageable option in day-to-day life.

Who is Invisalign Suitable For?

Invisalign suits a wide range of people. You might be a good fit if you:

  • Are a teenager, adult, or child looking to straighten your teeth
  • Would prefer a treatment that’s less noticeable (no metal, no wires)
  • Have mild to moderate alignment concerns, whether that’s crowding, spacing, or a bite that’s slightly off
  • Want to be able to remove your aligners when you eat or clean your teeth, without any hassle
  • Are looking to finish treatment with a straighter smile and better bite function

What Problems Can Invisalign Fix?

Invisalign straightens teeth but it also tackles a whole range of bite issues that affect how your smile looks and how your teeth actually work day to day.

 The Q Invisalign Process

Week 0 - 2
1
Consultation & Assessment

Before anything else, you’ll sit down with your dentist for a full consultation. Here’s what that typically involves:
Thorough check of your teeth and how your bite comes together
Digital scans, photos, and X-rays if required
Discussion about your smile concerns and treatment goals
Assessment of whether Invisalign is the right option for you

All of this happens upfront so that whatever treatment plan is drawn up actually reflects your specific situation because no two smiles are the same.

2
Digital Scan & Treatment Planning

If Invisalign is suitable for you, we will take a precise 3D digital scan of your teeth.

Using advanced treatment planning software, your dentist will design a customised treatment plan that maps out how your teeth will gradually move into their ideal positions.

You will also be able to preview a digital simulation of your expected smile outcome before treatment begins.

Week 2 - 4
3
Aligner Fabrication

Once your treatment plan is locked in, your aligners are made to fit your teeth specifically. Each set works by placing gentle, consistent pressure on your teeth, nudging them gradually into where they need to be. You’ll move through sets one by one, with each new set picking up right where the last one left off.

When they’re ready, you’ll head back to the clinic to collect your first sets. Your dentist will walk you through how to wear them and keep them in good shape. The process itself is pretty seamless, but there’s a lot of careful planning that goes into every single aligner.

Week 6 - 18
4
Wearing Your Aligners

You’ll need to keep your aligners in for 20–22 hours a day as the more consistent you are, the better your results. Every 1–2 weeks, you’ll swap to a new set as directed by your dentist, each one continuing the work of the last.

5
Progress Reviews (Every 6–10 Weeks)

Throughout your treatment, you’ll need to head back to the clinic every 6 to 10 weeks for a progress check. At these visits, your dentist will:
Take a look at how your teeth have been moving along
Make sure your aligners are still sitting and fitting the way they should
Hand you your next sets to keep things moving forward

These reviews are simple and quick, but they matter because it is how your dentist catches anything early and makes sure everything is progressing the way it should be.

(NOTE: The length of treatment varies depending on the complexity of your case.

Typical treatment timelines may include:
Mild cases: approximately 6 months
Moderate cases: around 9–12 months
Complex cases: 12–18 months or longer

Treatment duration also depends on how consistently the aligners are worn each day.)

Month 18+ (After completion)
6
Retention Phase

Congratulations! You have completed your Invisalign treatment, meaning your teeth have successfully shifted into their desired positions. Reaching the end of your Invisalign treatment is a big milestone but there’s still one final step.

Because teeth tend to shift back to their original position over time, the retention phase will help to protect the results you’ve worked for. You’ll receive custom retainers that are made to hold your teeth in their new positions and stop any gradual drifting from happening.

Your dentist will share with you how frequently you need to wear them. Don’t worry, as the routine is manageable once you get into the habit. (Note: Invisalign Treatment Duration
